Intersegmental Traction
Intersegmental Traction is a passive therapy that uses a specialized table with rolling mechanisms to gently stretch and mobilize the spine. As you lie comfortably on your back, rollers move up and down along the spine, creating a rhythmic, wave-like motion that helps improve spinal mobility and relaxation.
This therapy works by gently mobilizing each segment of the spine, helping to reduce stiffness, improve joint movement, and promote better circulation to the surrounding muscles and tissues. It can also help decrease muscle tension and support the natural curvature of the spine.
Intersegmental traction is often used as an adjunct to chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitation exercises to help prepare the body for treatment or maintain mobility between visits.
Intersegmental traction may be used to help support conditions such as:
Low back pain and stiffness
Neck and mid-back tightness
Muscle spasms and tension
Postural strain
Reduced spinal mobility
Disc-related discomfort
General spinal fatigue from prolonged sitting or standing
Because it is gentle, relaxing, and non-invasive, intersegmental traction is a great option for patients looking to loosen up the spine, reduce tension, and support overall spinal health as part of their care plan.
